Three races, three top-10s for Dillard

Cade Dillard and his team competed in a trio of events, May 1-3, as Mother Nature finally cooperated with the racing world.

On Friday, Dillard had to fight his way through a B-Main to earn a 15th-place starting spot in the 30-lap USMTS feature at the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., but he made the best of his opportunity by knocking off eight cars en route to a seventh-place finish.

Saturday's show at the Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Mo., was delayed over an hour when a rain shower at 7 p.m. rolled in, The moisture made for a sticky-fast and rough high-banked half-mile, but Dillard found a way to survive the main event and pick up a sixth-place finish.

Then on Sunday, the team made a stop in Atchison, Kan., for an unsanctioned, $2,000-to-win Outlaw Modified show. After a fun and racy feature on the short 1/5-mile track, Dillard wound up third behind Rodney Sanders and Ryan Gustin, who got around Dillard in the final turn after lapped traffic played a role.

The USMTS Casey’s Cup Series powered by S&S Fishing & Rental embarks on a four-day trek through Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana this week. Action kicks off Wednesday, May 6, at the Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore, Okla., and then moves to the RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas, on Thursday, May 7. From there, the series travels to the Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, La., on Friday, May 8, before wrapping up the quadrupleheader on Saturday, May 9, at the Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, La. All four events will pay $3,000 to win and award points in the Double H Bands Southern Region presented by Day Motor Sports.
