Close but no cigar at Cedar Lake, Cresco

Close but no cigar at Cedar Lake, Cresco

Cade Dillard and his squadron took in three USMTS races over the weekend in Wisconsin and Northern Iowa with a little bit of good and little bit of bad.

On Friday and Saturday, the Cedar Lake Speedway hosted the 17th Annual Masters with the UMP Hell Tour late models sharing the spotlight. After battling with the leaders the whole race on Friday,

Dillard settled in with a fourth-place finish to kick off the weekend. Saturday was not as pleasurable as mechanical woes sidelined the LG21 machine just 14 laps into the 40-lap main event.

Looking to turn things around on Sunday, Dillard made his first trip to the Cresco Speedway in Cresco, Iowa, where he took control of the main event at the drop of the green flag, but the gremlins apparently had not left after Saturday.

Sailing with a two-second lead with just 13 laps to go, a broken upper A-arm crippled the handling of the car and he began to fade quickly, eventually haning on for a seventh-place finish.

With trips to the Route 66 Motor Speedway on June 22, Heart O’ Texas Speedway on June 23, Devil’s Bowl Speedway on June 24, East Texas Speedway on June 25 and Southern Oklahoma Speedway on June 26, the swing wraps up on Saturday, June 27, at the Lawton Speedway in Oklahoma.
