
Jacob and the No. 21 EZ Fabricating team ventured out for three nights with the USMTS this past weekend, Aug. 27-29, with a mixed bag of results.
On Friday at the Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa, Jacob started seventh and finished fourth in his heat race. Missing the redraw by just one spot, he started ninth in the 42-lap main event and held on for a 10th-place finish at the 3/8-mile clay oval.
On Saturday, the series headed to the Park Jefferson Speedway in Jefferson, S.D., for another round of racing in the Hunt for the USMTS Casey's Cup. Jacob started sixth and finished seventh in his heat race, which landed him a fourth-row start in one of the "B" Mains where he finished fourth to earn a spot in the main event. Starting 19th In the feature, he worked his way past five cars to finish 14th.
Sunday took the team to the Casino Speedway in Watertown, S.D. Jacob was looking to make a pass for second in his heat race when he was involved in a multi-car crash. Unable to continue, the team's night was done.
Jacob currently sits 20th in USMTS points and seventh in the Grant Junghans USMTS Rookie of the Year standings.
