Schott moves forward in King of America III

HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- The King of America race has become one of the biggest races of the season for many teams. Every spring all the top modified drivers get there cars ready for the $10,000 to win show.

Lucas and the Schott Racing Team have been to all three King of America races and have been fortunate enough to make all three of the big races. At this year's race, the format was changed and you had to run four heat races which earned you passing points and the top 12 in passing points would be locked in to the feature on Saturday night.

At the end of the four heat races that were ran on Thurday, March 28, and Friday, March 29, Lucas was sitting 29th in overall points. He had some work to do and had to come all the way from the third row of a C-Main to make the A-Main.

"Cool Hand Luke" started 21st in the feature on Saturday and finished 13th ... good enough considering he raced 60 of the 100 laps with no left rear shock.

Ryan Gustin would end up bringing home the $10,000 prize.
