Schott visits victory lane on Fan Appreciation Night aT Mississippi Thunder Speedway

FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. -- Race fans were treated to a great thank-you from Mississippi Thunder Speedway Friday night as "Fan Appreciation Night" welcomed one and all to shrug off the rainy blues that had enveloped the area through the previous week and enjoy some great fast and furious Friday night family-friendly fun! Those fans who accepted the invitation from the West-Central Wisconsin dirt track went home later that evening thoroughly entertained!

An evening filled with repeat winners was high-lighted by intense battles for position - some decided by mere inches beneath the waiving checkered flags - throughout each field.

The top billing Rivercity Manufacturing USRA Modifieds put on a show that kept fans on the edges of their seats as 2012 Track Champion Lucas Schott beat 2013 track champion Josh Angst and 2011 Track Champion, and second heat race winner Bob Timm to the front of the field early, and stayed there throughout the remainder of the Fan Appreciation 25 to collect the feature win.

Timm, who started outside the second row, slowly back-slid through the field before bowing out of the race after fifteen circuits with mechanical troubles on his #49. Angst was actually able to lead the opening four laps before Schott relieved him of the burden and then built up a nearly three second advantage on his way to the checkered flag.

"Yeah, I used the beginning of the race to work the traffic and try some different lines", commented Schott in Victory Lane after the win, "then after I got out front I could run where I wanted. Car was good, track was good . . . it was a good race."

Angst briefly lost second position around the mid point of the feature as 2009 Track Champion John Doelle, enjoying an inspired evening took over second place for a three-lap stint just past the crossed flags. Angst was able to reclaim second, relegating Doelle to settle for a strong third place finish.

Racing resumes next Friday night July 18th with another great night of action at Mississippi Thunder Speedway. The first green flag is scheduled to wave at 6 PM with the Sunshine Sanitation Midwest Mini Mods on the 1/10-mile "Lightning Speedway" which is located within the infield of Mississippi Thunder Speedway.
