Schott caps off Memorial Day Weekend with runner-up at Deer Creek

The Memorial Day Weekend featured a pair of USMTS events for Lucas Schott and the No. 69 team, with graduation from high school highlighting a great weekend of racing in Southern Minnesota

At the Chateau Raceway in Lansing, Minn., on Friday, 'Cool Hand Luke' led from start to finish in the fifth heat race, but drew an eighth-place starting spot for the 40-lap main event and finished right there.

Back at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., on Saturday, another heat race win put Schott in the redraw, and again he drew the seventh spot--one better than Friday night at least. In the 40-lap main event, he strormed to the front of the pack despite a hard-to-pass racing surface, but did not quite have enough for eventual race winner Brad Waits and settled for a solid runner-up finish against some tough USMTS competitors including Rodney Sanders, who finished third behind him.
