Schott makes noise at World Modified Dirt Track Championship

Lucas Schott and the No. 69 Schott Racing team took part in the 5th Annual World Modified Dirt Track Championship presented by Red Tail Tackle this past Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 23-25, at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn. A field of 62 of the fastest and most talented dirt modified drivers on the planet were in attendance with everybody shooting for the $20,000 top prize.

On Thursday, Schott was second-quick out of nine drivers in his qualifying group, but could only manage a third-place finish in his heat. After handily winning the "B" Main, he started 16th in the "A" Main where he finished 13th in the 30-lapper.

On Friday, he led his qualifying group with quick time and recorded a runner-up finish in his wild and crazy heat—one of the most exciting battles of the entire weekend. In the main event, he started sixth on the grid and garnered a tenth-place finish, good enough for a seventh-place starting slot in Saturday's big dance

On Saturday, 'Cool Hand Luke' started and finished seventh in the first 30-lap segment. After a ten-minute pit stop for all of the teams, he rolled off seventh again in the 50-lap finale and managed to wrestle an ill-handling racecar to a 19th-place finish.
