Schott a main event starter in first IMCA Super Nationals run

Driving for car owner Kody Scholpp, Lucas Schott competed in the IMCA Super Nationals this past weekend, and in his first visit there he emerged as one of the 33 drivers to make the main event field on Saturday.

On opening night Wednesday, Scholpp won the A-Main and Schott was moving forward before a car spun in front of him and forced Schott to lock up the brakes and make contact. He went to the rear, eventually finishing 21st.

Luke started pole of his heat race Thursday and won it for the second straight night. He redrew ninth for the feature and was running sixth when he pushed up the race track and spun out on his own. He went to the rear of the field, ran some laps to try and figure out what was wrong and later realized the brake adjuster was labeled wrong.

After missing the feature race on Friday, 'Cool Hand Luke' won his Last Chance Qualifier on Saturday to put him in the big dance. However, early mechanical problems saddled him with a last-place finish.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience and the team extends their thanks to the Scholpp family for the great opportunity.
