Schott grabs first and second at Cedar Lake Speedway

Schott grabs first and second at Cedar Lake Speedway

With favorable spring weather, the Cedar Lake Speedway was able to complete its two night opening weekend to kick off the 59th season at the legendary western Wisconsin dirt oval on April 15-16.  From great racing, to first time winners, to seasoned veterans showing the way, opening weekend had a little bit of something for everyone.  Opening night feature winners included Joey Jensen topping the NASCAR modified main event on Friday with Lucas Schott first on Saturday.  All in all, it was an entertaining and enjoyable weekend for the fans with temperatures each day reaching well into the seventies.

The always exciting NASCAR Modifieds would see another driver with a lot of laps at the Cedar Lake Speedway ride home in first on Friday night.  Joey Jensen followed young Jacob Blees for 14 laps before making the winning pass on lap 15.  For Jensen, it was his 18th career modified win at CLS.  Lucas Schott led the entire distance on Saturday night with Jensen coming home in second.  Jake Timm went from 11th to 3rd while Josh Angst came from 14th to 4th in impressive runs forward on Saturday.

Racing action continues next Saturday April 23 at the Cedar Lake Speedway with the NASCAR late models, modifieds, pro stocks and Midwest modifieds in action along with the UMSS Traditional non-winged sprint cars.  Check out our website at www.cedarlakespeedway.com to get information on upcoming races, results, photos, news and much more.  You can call us toll free at 1-866-4-CLS-FUN or find us on Facebook and Twitter.  CLS has a promo going on Twitter in 2016 called Pick the Winners.  If one or more lucky fans can successfully pick the winners in all five divisions during weekly competition, they will win a pair of free passes to the next regular night race at CLS.  No one was successful on Friday night, but one lucky fan was able to pick all five on Saturday which included Jesse Glenz' first-ever victory.  Very impressive to say the least!  Come join us for loads of fun in 2016.
