Two top fives highlight Memorial Day Weekend with USMTS

"Cool Hand Luke" and the No. 69 Schott's Hardwood Floors MBCustoms team took in two USMTS events this past Memorial Day Weekend after Mother Nature wiped out three of the five scheduled shows.

The USMTS Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental invaded the Mason City Motor Speedway on Thursday, May 26, for the “All-In” 30 presented by Diamond Jo Casino. Luke made some incredible moves in his stacked heat race to come from seventh to second at the finish. After drawing the pole position for the main event, he was unable to deter the onslaught of eventual winner Rodney Sanders and finished fourth.

After two wet days with no racing, the 9th Annual “Donnybrook in Decorah” took place at the Upper Iowa Speedway on Sunday, May 29. Again Luke started seventh in his heat race, but his time could only get as high as fifth and was locked into the 13th starting spot. After making some bold moves early on, the track took rubber about halfway through the 42-lapper but Luke grabbed another fourth-place finish to cap a stout weekend.
