9th Annual USMTS Spring Fling presented by United Cellular Services

 Finished 16th in Main Event

 It wasn't spectacular, but with a brand new car and the first laps of the season the outcome was pretty darn good. Luke passed three cars in the "B" Main and then started 19th in the "A" Main where he wound up 16th in a non-stop 40-lap feature. With Saturday and Sunday's shows rained out, we're heading back to Minnesota to get ready to come back for the King of America IV at the end of the month.

 Lucas finished fifth and sixth in his two qualifying heat races on Thursday. On Friday, 'Cool Hand Luke' was fourth and eighth in his heat races. He's got some work to do on Saturday as he will be in one of the Last Chance races with a shot at getting into the "C" Main. On Saturday, Lucas was up on the wheel as he advanced all way through three preliminary features and made it into the King of America "A" Main for the fourth straight year. Against the toughest field of Modifieds you could assemble for one race, the #69 Hughes Chassis stayed on the led lap, finished all 100 laps and wound up 19th.

 Finished 4th in Main Event

 After putting together a late deal with USRA B-Mod racer and Chatfield resident Jacob Bleess and his team, Lucas made the journey to the I-35 Speedway in Winston, Mo., Saturday night to try out some changes on the car and get a head start on some USRA Modified national points racing. The #69 Schott's Hardwood Floors Hughes Racing Chassis powered by Sput's Racing Engines started the night with some tough luck when the clutch broke in the heat race. 'Cool Hand Luke' needed a push to start the feature, started in the back of field in 19th and clawed his way forward to finish fourth at the finish.

 "Cool Hand Luke" made it two in a row Saturday night at Cedar Lake Speedway. He started fifth in the feature, took the lead on lap 17 and won from there to complete an awesome weekend for the #69 Hughes Chassis powered by Sput's Racing Engines.

 Couldn't get much going tonight at Deer Creek. Started third in the heat and finished fourth. Drew 11 for the feature and made it up to seventh. Felt like we could have moved up farther but its hard when there is a caution every other lap. Looking forward to the USMTS guys coming to town next weekend!

 Well it was a close one tonight at Deer Creek but we were able to pull off the win! Started pole in the feature and led every lap. Raced side by side with Keith Foss the first half of the race and Jason Cummins the second half but was able to keep them behind us!

 Raced MTS Friday night. Finished 2nd in the heat and drew 8 for the feature. Was up to second and a caution came out. Chose the bottom to see if I could find a way around Josh Angst but ended up finishing 4th.

 Lucas started ninth and finished sixth in his heat. He started the feature in 15th and finished 12th.

 Friday night at the Mississippi Thunder Speedway, Lucas struggled in the heat race but was a rocket in the main event. He started the feature race in 13th and clawed his way to the front where he battled Brandon Davis for the lead but eventually settled for the runner-up finish.
